The Role of the NED Course Overview

The Role of the Non-Executive Director half-day course is specifically designed for experienced executive directors seeking to transition into their first non-executive role and for those who already hold a non-executive position and wish to further enhance their skills and knowledge to improve their performance.

Throughout this course, participants will learn how to hone their skill sets and gain a deeper understanding of the essential qualities required for the non-executive director role.

The Role of The NED Course Outcomes

The course outcomes for the two-hour session are:

  • Learn the key qualities of influential NEDs.
  • Learn the seven responsibilities of directorship per the Companies Act 2006.
  • Learn how to carry out pre-appointment due diligence.
  • Learn how to hit the ground running at board meetings, including how to make a great first impression.
  • Gain a better understanding of why boards may fail.
  • Understand the Corporate Governance Code and how to apply this to the role.
  • Learn how to assess the performance of the board.
  • Analyse your own board materials and consider if they could be improved.
  • Understand the importance of directors’ and officers’ insurance.
