OnBoarding Officers is an accelerated non-executive training programme that has been created to help exiting officers and SNCOs to realise the new and exciting opportunities of civilian life by developing their skills to become board members of UK organisations.
Exiting officers and SNCOs’ leadership skills are unquestionable and their decision-making acumen is exemplary. This training programme will provide a critical insight into the commercial world whether aspirations are to take a NED role in a listed substantial organisation, a privately managed company or a more altruistic role in a not-for-profit company.
The official launch of OnBoarding Officers is on Wednesday 7th November in central Manchester. Interested parties are encouraged to register their interest via the website for an exclusive invitation at http://onboardingofficers.co.uk.
The programme is supported by the practical skills of the course tutors, programme ambassadors and Super NEDs who have world-class and award-winning skills.
Business advice specialists FDS Director Services and training specialist ONECPD have partnered to create the five-day training programme.
Jo Haigh & Paul Bolton
Jo Haigh, CEO of FDS, Founder and course tutor of the programme comments “OnBoarding Officers is truly unique and we have been overwhelmed from the responses we have had and that’s before its official launch! We have high hopes for the development of these amazing people and will strive to get as many as possible a seat at the board table”.
The programme has a specific focus on corporate governance best practice and the legal responsibilities of directors, as well as financial understanding and the strategic and marketing responsibilities of a NED.
Upon completion, the participants will be awarded a Level 8 Certificate in Strategic Direction and Leadership awarded by the Chartered Management Institute.
Paul Bolton, Managing Director of ONECPD said “British boards need to be supported by skilled non-executive directors. Retiring exiting officers and SNCOs have strong transferable skills which would provide great benefits to boardrooms throughout the country. The OnBoarding Officers scheme will give them a critical insight into the commercial world and equip them with the knowledge and skills to make a real difference to the companies and organisations they join.”
OnBoarding Officers’ exclusive corporate partner Clarke Wilmott LLP is sponsoring and hosting the November launch event as well as hosting two of the 2019 cohorts in their Manchester offices.
John Flint, Partner of Clarke Willmott, said: “As a leading national law firm, Clarke Willmott regularly works closely with businesses of all sizes, directors and other stakeholders to provide pragmatic and commercial advice. We are excited to be associated with this new project, which will potentially add real value to the management and strategic thinking of businesses throughout the UK”.
OnBoarding Officers has received tremendous support to date with the Army and Navy Club endorsing the programme by promoting it to all of its members.
